In a span of eight years, we approved 60 commercial-scale renewable energy projects on public lands that have the potential to produce 15,500 megawatts, enough to power approximately five million American homes. Today, some of the world’s largest solar projects are powering the grid from public and tribal lands we have a blueprint for responsible solar development in the West and we’ve institutionalized a competitive renewable energy leasing program within the Bureau of Land Management. ![]() In 2009, there were no solar projects built on public lands and no method to address industry’s growing interest in developing renewable energy projects onshore or offshore.
